Estate and Retirement Planning, in One Seminar

I’m not content to rest on my laurels. More than a thousand people have attended my seminars since late 2008, and most have found them enjoyable and informative. So, as Emeril would say, we’re kicking things up a notch.

For this next round of seminars, we’ll be adding a financial component. Susan Gagne of Monument Financial Retirement Services has graciously donated her time to speak on retirement planning.

Learn how to not only preserve your assets but grow them.

Estate and retirement planning have two things in common: Neither should be neglected, and more is within your control than you might think. So come visit, and/or tell a friend. You’ll be glad you did!

One Year in the New Office – Come Celebrate!

A year ago in May, we celebrated the opening of our office at 982 South Street with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony, performed by Fitchburg mayor Lisa Wong and attended by many of our community’s leaders.

We saw many of you at this event, and we’d love to see more of you. So we’re celebrating our first birthday in our new home on Friday, May 20, at 4 p.m., and we’d love for you to come. (Hey, let’s face it: We’ll take any opportunity we can get to eat cake!)

Our birthday party will feature plenty of refreshments, fun and a chance for you to see our great client service center. It will be a great time, so don’t miss out!

You can RSVP to the event by calling 978-342-1914 or shooting an email to office@dellamonaca.com by Friday, May 13.

Back in 2008, we set out to build a different type of law firm -- one not limited to creating documents and sending you on your way, but rather a place to guide and support you throughout your life.

We continue this mission in our new home, where we’ve been happy and successful this past year. We invite you to share in our success as we continue our mission. Come see us!

  The New Massachusetts Homestead Law
More Ways to Protect Your Most Important Investment

St.210, c. 395, passed by the Massachusetts Legislature and signed into law by Governor Patrick, makes some important improvements and clarifications to the homestead law, which essentially prevents forced sale of your home to pay common creditors.

The law now grants automatic homestead protection of $125,000. This means no need to record anything. But that’s just the beginning. While the ability to record a homestead declaration and increase protection to $500,000 remains mostly unchanged, the law now allows both spouses in a married couple to declare homestead protection. The prior law only allowed this benefit for seniors and persons with disabilities.

The revised law also clarifies that trustees of a living trust may declare homestead protection. This is welcome news to many of our clients who want to combine the convenience of probate avoidance with the peace of mind a homestead declaration provides.

Want to know more? Give us a call, and we can make sure you take full advantage of the revised homestead law.

Clients for Life: We Mean What We Say

You may have heard our informal motto -- have a plan for life --or heard us talk about clients being part of the office family. Nowadays, people view such claims with a skeptical eye, and I can’t blame them. There’s a lot of deception out there, bait-and-switch and plain old poor service.

In contrast, I believe that the reason we have grown as an office as rapidly as we have is that we back up our talk with our actions.

It bears repeating: Once you’re a client, you have lifetime access to us. When in doubt, call! We pledge to return all phone calls promptly. (Just please leave your phone number, even if you think we have it!)

For most estate or business plans, I don’t charge by the hour, but rather a flat fee. That buys you a lifetime of access to my office, in which we will always be on hand to answer your legal inquiries.

And whether it’s a phone call, an email or a visit, whether it’s about you, your kids or your brother-in-law, we’ll do our best to assist. If it’s not a matter we ordinarily handle, like personal injury or bankruptcy, we can still get you working with someone as dedicated as we are.

The practice of law is a personal service profession. Let us prove it to you.
